The satirical videos continue… Words and music by Kate Semmens and Steven Devine.
Some great reviews, including BBC Music Magazine, have come in for Steven’s recording of Bach’s Das wohltemperierte Klavier Book 2. We’ve updated the page with the quotes and links to the sites.
Do check things out!
Earlymusicreview.com has published a rave review for Steven’s new release. The review finishes with sentence: “This is – and remains with the publication of Part 2 – my top choice for the 48.”

The new lockdown has inspired another video. This one, “The U-Turn Rag” , has been our most popular yet… Written and performed by Steven Devine and Kate Semmens.
Some twenty years after the collection known as Das wohltemperierte Klavier J.S. Bach assembled his second collection of twenty-four preludes and fugues in all keys, completing one of the greatest achievements in keyboard music that today remains one of the crowning glories of the genre.
Steven is delighted to announce the release of this completion of this incredible collection and can send copies direct (signed, if required!)
Kate Semmens (soprano) and Steven are doing a one-hour concert for a socially-distanced audience at Little Mill Oast in Marden on Sunday 20th September at 3pm.
Please come and help us celebrate a return to live music-making for an audience! Numbers are VERY limited and details and tickets are here:
An immensely important and emotional experience happened last Saturday (20th June) when the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenement reconvened for the first time since Lock-Down to perform “Bach, the Universe and Everything” – the monthly Bach Cantata-with-science presentation that has become so popular as a live event.
The event was recorded the day before transmission in order to make sure that all social-distancing and health and safety measures where strictly adhered to and the 2m marks are visible on the floor!
The event features Bach’s astonishing Cantata BWV 39, Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot, directed by Steven and with an amazing team of musicians.
