This concert is part of the Totnes Early Music Society Season 2018/19, and features music for the pianoforte by Mozart and Haydn with top harpsichordist Steven Devine and soprano Kate Semmens.
This programme explores the musical scene in Vienna and London in the late 1700s, when the fortepiano was becoming the instrument of choice for composers such as Haydn and Mozart. Steven plays a copy of a fortepiano built in 1785, to create an intimate sound world perfect for the featured chamber pieces from these two masters.
Harpsichordist Steven Devine delighted us playing Bach’s Goldberg Variations.in 2012. Soprano Kate Semmens has sung with eminent groups including the Monteverdi Choir, Gabrieli Consort, Dunedin Consort, and Taverner Consort.
This is the third concert in the new season from Totnes Early Music Society (TEMS). For more information on the programme and the benefits of membership please see totnesearlymusic.org.uk.
