Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of French composer Gounod, horn player Anneke Scott and pianist Steven Devine perform his Six melodies pour le cor à pistons alongside other Parisian compositions from the 1830s/40s. These works call for a very special approach to the horn, one which incorporates early valve technology alongside the use of the early ‘hand technique’ usually associated with the natural horn.
