Baroque Passion – Chipping Campden
EX CATHEDRA Consort & Baroque Ensemble
Jeffrey Skidmore conductor
An hour-long programme of sublime music by Bach, Kuhnau, Lotti, Monteverdi, Purcell and Scarlatti. This is sinuous, poignant music that yearns for resolution – heartrending as Mary weeps at the foot of the cross in Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater and concludes with the optimism of Bach’s miniature masterpiece Komm, Jesu, komm.
We’re delighted to make our debut at the Chipping Campden Music Festival with these two performances.
JS Bach Prelude, Cello Suite No 1 in G (BWV 1007)
Purcell Hear my Prayer
Lotti Crucifixus
D Scarlatti Stabat mater
Kuhnau Tristis est anima mea
Monteverdi Plagas tuas
Monteverdi Maria, quid ploras?
JS Bach Komm, Jesu, komm (BWV 229)
